Instructional Staff

Dan Miles
Director of Baseball Operations

Coach Miles’ playing career includes a first team all league selection at second base for Atholton High School in Columbia, MD. He then played two seasons as a pitcher for Catonsville Community College and went on to play at Frostburg State University for the 1991 and 1992 seasons when the Bobcats enjoyed a conference championship. He finished his career as the number two all-time saves leader for the Bobcats in just two seasons at FSU.

His 25 years in coaching includes experience managing players 18 and over in the Mid-Maryland League, coaching various levels of travel baseball from 8U-17U, Little League and LL All-Stars and founded the Fielder’s Choice Baseball Club. Dan’s experience also includes serving as the Sports Program Director and teaching private 4th-6th grade in Oak Hill, VA.  As the founder of Fielder’s Choice Baseball and Softball Training,  Coach Miles and his staff have had the wonderful opportunity to work with thousands of players and local coaches in our community since 2009.

Chris Lose
Baseball Instructor

A passionate and intensely dedicated student and teacher of the game; Chris understands the fundamentals required to play and also knows how to manage and adapt to all game situations.  He views coaching as an extended form of teaching, whereas he is currently an Elementary PE teacher. His motivation to see players achieve their highest potential is unrivaled.  Chris has spent eight years coaching at the High School level including six of those at Briar Woods.  He has also spent several summers coaching elite level travel baseball.

Chris Pruden

Coach Pruden is originally from Connecticut where he played baseball and football at Fairfield College Preparatory School and was a member of the Team Connecticut Baseball AAU organization. After graduating from the University of Maryland, Coach Pruden began working for LCPS as a special education teacher at Riverside High School in Leesburg. At Riverside, he coached both football and baseball for three years, helping the Rams baseball program reach the state quarterfinals in 2022. Coach Pruden went on to be the head varsity baseball coach at Potomac Falls High School in Sterling for two seasons and is now serving as a varsity assistant coach in both football and baseball at Woodgrove High School. He has coached multiple age groups of travel baseball with Diamond Elite and is also an assistant coach with the Purcellville Cannons in the Valley Baseball League.

Alex Salesky

Alex was a catcher at Alvernia University where he played in 115 games for Golden Wolves with a .284 career batting average.  He earned 2nd Team All ECAC Honors and ALL MAC Commonwealth Honors as a backstop in 2018.

Jason Bour 

We are thrilled to announce that Jason Bour is now available for lessons at Fielder’s Choice!  He offers specialized training with catchers, hitters and fielders.

Coach Bour played collegiately for Hampden-Sydney College and then George Mason University before being drafted by the Cincinnati Reds and finishing up his career with the Chicago White Sox. Jason has played alongside and against some of the biggest names in major league baseball and was chosen to participate in the Arizona Fall league in 2011 where organizations top prospects go to play. He reached the double A level 3 different seasons.

2005 All Conference/All State (Hampden-Sydney College) – Division III

2007 All CAA Selection (George Mason University) – Division I

2007 All South Region (George Mason University) – Division I

23rd round draft pick in the 2007 draft by the Cincinnati Reds

5 seasons of professional baseball including 3 seasons at Double A

2010 selection to play in the Arizona Fall League for the Peoria Saguaros (top prospect league)

Over 300 games played and 1000 at bats professionally


Wyatt Miles

Wyatt specializes in hitting and infield lessons.

Wyatt played high school baseball at Woodgrove where he was a 4yr varsity player and graduated in 2020.  After graduation, he started his college baseball career at Frederick Community College and led his team to back-to-back Juco World Series appearances. Wyatt just completed his Sophomore season at Shepherd University where he started at second base and hit .305/.396/.511 with 6 HR and 28 RBI. Wyatt is preparing for his 3rd season with the Purcellville Cannons in the prestigious Valley League. Wyatt played travel ball for Fielder’s Choice Baseball (9U-16U) and for the Evoshield Canes (16U-17U).

Kaleb Bowman                                                                                Pitching Instruction 

Specialized Pitching Instruction for players of all levels. Kaleb’s background includes training with collegiate and professional players where he has learned the techniques and methods used at the highest levels of the game.  He has worked summer camps, clinics and with FCB Travel teams since 2015.

A Four-year Varsity player at Woodgrove, Kaleb won County pitcher of the year and holds the all time strikeout record for Woodgrove. Graduated in 2015 and continued his playing career at Spartanburg Methodist College where he was the closer his freshman year and a weekend starter in sophomore year.

KALEB CURRENTLY IS PLAYING AA BASEBALL WITH THE MILWAUKEE BREWERS ORGANIZATION

Transferred to NCAA D1 Appalachian State University in 2017 and graduated in 2019. Pitched in all roles in two seasons there. Won Sun Belt Conference pitcher of the year in 2019 and named team MVP.

After college went on to start a professional career in Canada for the Fredericton Royals.

After Canada, went to Australia to continue playing. Played in the Greater Brisbane League for Surfers Paradise and in first year set a League single-season strikeout record.

Signed a contract in the Australian Baseball League with the Melbourne Aces.

Coached the U20’s Surfers Paradise and Queensland team in Australia.

RYAN MILES

Specialized Pitching Instruction for players of all levels. Ryan also works with younger hitters.

Ryan is a lifelong Loudoun County resident and played high school baseball at Woodgrove and graduated in 2017. He led the Wolverines pitching staff with an ERA of 0.737 and struck our 63 hitters in just 38 innings his senior year.  After an outstanding prep career, he went on to play Division I college baseball at George Mason University. He also spent a summer playing in the prestigious Cal Ripken Collegiate League for the SS Takoma Club. Ryan played travel ball for Fielder’s Choice Baseball (9U-16U) and for the Richmond Braves National Team (15U-17U).

Mark Bauer
Camp Instructor
Asst. Coach Loudoun Valley High School

Coach Bauer is a native of Loudoun County. He graduated from Park View High School in 1997, and was an All District/All Region outfielder. After high school, Coach Bauer attended Greensboro College where he played football and baseball. On the baseball team, he played outfield and was a full time starter his junior and senior year. Coach Bauer has coached high school baseball since 2001. He has served as the JV Head Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach for various schools including Broad Run, Park View, Stone Bridge, and Loudoun Valley. Coach Bauer is currently the Head Baseball Coach at Tuscarora High School in Leesburg.

Amanda Rohs
Developmental Instructor

Amanda grew up just outside of Canton, Ohio and played for top travel softball ASA programs in the state during 1986 – 1994. She played NCAA Division I softball for Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, PA from 1991-1995 where she was a four year member of the woman’s softball team who won three Northeast Conference championships and was ranked in the top 25 in the nation during the 1994 season. She holds a Sport Management degree and has been a manager and coach in Upper Loudoun Little League baseball for four years. Amanda currently serves on the ULLL Board and her coaching philosophy is simple: “When you do the little things right, big things happen, whether it is on the ball field, the classroom or in life.”
